The EPCOT Evening Plan: Why Closing Time Wins

At EPCOT, the single best hour to ride anything is 10pm — the last hour of the night, not the first. Park-wide, our wait-time data puts the average at 19.5 minutes at 10pm, the lowest point of the day. Compare that to 11am, the worst hour, which runs 55% higher at 30.3 minutes.

That gap is the whole strategy. Most first-time visitors build their day around rope drop. At EPCOT, the smarter anchor is closing time.

The park-wide pattern

Hour Avg wait across all attractions (min)
8am 26.5
9am 24.7
10am 26.2
11am 30.3
12pm 29.8
3pm 26.6
6pm 27.3
8pm 26.2
9pm 24.0
10pm 19.5

Waits climb through the morning, hold in the high 20s all afternoon, and only really break after 8pm.

Your headliners want the evening too

The park-wide number is only half the picture. Look at how EPCOT's three biggest rides behave hour by hour:

Attraction Best hour Best avg (min) Worst hour Worst avg (min)
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind 10pm 49.5 7pm 83
Test Track 10pm 40.6 7pm 76.2
Remy's Ratatouille Adventure 10pm 23.5 4pm 54.8

All three post their lowest average right at 10pm, and none of them are close — Guardians alone drops from an 83-minute worst hour to 49.5 at close, a difference of nearly 34 minutes for the same ride.

Not every attraction follows this pattern. Frozen Ever After actually runs lowest at 8am (21.5 minutes) and peaks at 1pm (57.9 minutes), so it belongs on your morning list, not your evening one.

The plan

  1. Ride Frozen Ever After early. It's the one headliner that favors the morning, not the night.
  2. Fill the middle of the day with World Showcase and lower-wait attractions — pavilions, shows, and food, while the big three sit near their worst hours.
  3. Close the park on Guardians, Test Track, and Remy's. Riding all three in EPCOT's last hour or two beats trying to catch them at any other point in the day.

For current numbers by attraction and hour, check the EPCOT wait times page. For the rest of your day, see the EPCOT touring plan and EPCOT with toddlers. If you want the general logic behind this pattern, read the last hour of the night strategy and the Guardians of the Galaxy wait data.
