Pirates of the Caribbean averages 12.2 minutes in our wait-time data. Haunted Mansion averages 19.7 minutes — 62% longer. If you're choosing between the two on a walk-by basis, Pirates is almost always the faster line. But that gap nearly disappears at the one hour that matters most: at their shared worst hour of 12pm, Haunted Mansion sits at 25 minutes and Pirates at 24.9. Two rides with very different typical waits converge to a near dead heat at midday.

Both rides share the same best and worst hour — 8am and 12pm — which makes them an unusually clean comparison. It also means the "which line is faster" answer depends entirely on when you're asking. Early in the day, Pirates is dramatically shorter: 4.8 minutes versus Haunted Mansion's 11.9, less than half. By midday, the two are functionally the same wait.

Why the gap closes at noon

Haunted Mansion's range, from best to worst hour, runs 11.9 to 25 minutes — about 2.1x. Pirates' range runs 4.8 to 24.9 minutes — roughly 5.2x. Pirates starts the day as the clearly shorter line and climbs faster, in relative terms, than Haunted Mansion does. Haunted Mansion is more stable across the day; Pirates is more volatile. • Ride Pirates first thing. Its 8am average of 4.8 minutes is one of the shortest waits anywhere in the park. Waiting until midday erases nearly all of that advantage.
• Haunted Mansion is more forgiving if you can't get there early. Its worst hour (25 minutes) isn't dramatically worse than its best (11.9 minutes) — about double, versus Pirates' roughly five-fold swing. If your morning is already committed to headliners like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train or TRON Lightcycle / Run, Haunted Mansion is the safer line to save for later.
• Avoid both around noon if you have flexibility. At 12pm, you're paying nearly the same 25-minute toll for either ride — there's no advantage to picking one over the other at that hour.

Where these two rides sit in the park

Both are mid-pack attractions, not headliners. In our wait-time data, TRON Lightcycle / Run tops the park at 54.4 minutes average, and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train follows at 41.1. Haunted Mansion (19.7) and Pirates of the Caribbean (12.2) sit well below both, which is part of why they're easy to slot in between bigger rides rather than plan a whole visit around.

The bottom line

If you can only ride one before 10am, make it Pirates — the time savings are the largest of the day. If you're touring in the afternoon and have to choose, Haunted Mansion's flatter curve makes it the less risky pick outside of the 12pm window, where both rides cost you roughly the same 25 minutes regardless of which line you choose.
