Epic Universe's Five Lands, Ranked by Wait

Walk into Super Nintendo World at Epic Universe and the average attraction there will cost you 37.7 minutes. Walk into Celestial Park, the hub you pass through to get anywhere, and the same figure is 16.2. Both are inside the same gate, on the same ticket, on the same day.

Epic Universe is laid out as five distinct lands, and they are not remotely equivalent in what they cost you. Here is the full ranking, the arithmetic behind it, and the hour each land turns against you.

The five lands, ranked

For each land we averaged the all-day wait of every attraction we track inside it. The arithmetic is shown so you can check it.

Rank Land Attractions Sum of averages Avg wait per attraction (min)
1 Ministry of Magic 1 71.7 71.7
2 Super Nintendo World 4 150.8 37.7
3 Isle of Berk 4 112.7 28.2
4 Dark Universe 2 49.6 24.8
5 Celestial Park 2 32.3 16.2

Working: Super Nintendo World is 81.6 + 42.2 + 20.2 + 6.8 = 150.8, and 150.8 ÷ 4 = 37.7. Isle of Berk is 44.1 + 24.9 + 24.8 + 18.9 = 112.7, and 112.7 ÷ 4 = 28.2. Dark Universe is 35.4 + 14.2 = 49.6, and 49.6 ÷ 2 = 24.8. Celestial Park is 18.3 + 14 = 32.3, and 32.3 ÷ 2 = 16.2.

One honest caveat about first place. Ministry of Magic has a single tracked attraction, so its "average" is just Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry's own 71.7-minute figure. That is a real number and it is the second-longest line in the park, but it is a ride average wearing a land's label. Super Nintendo World is the most expensive land in the sense most visitors mean: four queues, all of them adding up.

Every attraction, by land

Land Attraction Avg wait (min) Peak hourly avg
Ministry of Magic Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry 71.7 187
Super Nintendo World Mine-Cart Madness 81.6 153
Super Nintendo World Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge 42.2 138
Super Nintendo World Yoshi's Adventure 20.2 56
Super Nintendo World Bowser Jr. Challenge 6.8 18
Isle of Berk Meet Toothless and Friends 44.1 79
Isle of Berk Hiccup Wing Glider 24.9 63
Isle of Berk Dragon Racer's Rally 24.8 47
Isle of Berk Fyre Drill 18.9 67
Dark Universe Curse of the Werewolf 35.4 85
Dark Universe Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment 14.2 34
Celestial Park Stardust Racers 18.3 39
Celestial Park Constellation Carousel 14 35

Super Nintendo World contains both the park's longest line and its shortest. Mine-Cart Madness averages 81.6 minutes; Bowser Jr. Challenge averages 6.8. That is 81.6 ÷ 6.8 = 12 times the wait, two attractions apart.

The hour each land turns

Park-wide, Epic Universe runs from 20.9 minutes at 8am to 42.8 minutes at noon — the worst hour sits 105% above the best. But the lands do not all follow that curve.

Land Attractions at their best in the morning Attractions at their best at night
Ministry of Magic 0 1 (9pm)
Super Nintendo World 2 (8am) 2 (9pm, 8pm)
Isle of Berk 2 (8am) 2 (9pm)
Dark Universe 2 (8am) 0
Celestial Park 2 (8am, 9am) 0

Dark Universe and Celestial Park are morning lands with no night window at all. Curse of the Werewolf is the starkest case in the park: 4.2 minutes at 8am against 49.1 minutes at 1pm. That is 49.1 − 4.2 = 44.9 minutes of difference, and more than eleven times the wait, on a ride whose all-day average is 35.4.

Ministry of Magic is the opposite. Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry runs 100.9 minutes at 4pm and 24.8 minutes at 9pm. That is 100.9 − 24.8 = 76.1 minutes of gap, the largest single-attraction swing in the park. There is no morning fix for it. There is only a late one.

The last-hour warning

Four attractions post their single shortest average at 9pm: Mine-Cart Madness (58.1 minutes), Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry (24.8), Meet Toothless and Friends (34.1) and Fyre Drill (4.8). That makes 9pm the most valuable hour of the night.

10pm is not the same thing. Park-wide the average climbs from 22.1 minutes at 9pm to 34.1 at 10pm. Celestial Park is where that shows up hardest — both of its attractions post their worst hour of the entire day at 9pm, with Stardust Racers at 28.8 minutes and Constellation Carousel at 25.7. The hub gets busier as everyone else's rides get quieter. We dug into the park's full hourly shape in Epic Universe hour by hour.

Which day to spend on which land

Epic Universe's quietest day is Wednesday at a 28.4-minute park-wide average, and its busiest is Sunday at 38.1. That 9.7-minute difference applies to every queue in every land, so a Wednesday visit buys you more than any land-order decision will.

Day Avg wait (min)
Sunday 38.1
Monday 30.6
Tuesday 32.2
Wednesday 28.4
Thursday 30.8
Friday 33.2
Saturday 36

A route that respects the ranking

  1. Open in Dark Universe, not Super Nintendo World. Both of its attractions bottom out at 8am, and Curse of the Werewolf has nowhere good to go later in the day.
  2. Super Nintendo World second. Yoshi's Adventure (4.6 minutes at 8am) and Bowser Jr. Challenge (4.5 at 8am) are both cheapest in the opening hour. Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge is the exception here — its best hour is 8pm at 13 minutes against 75.3 at noon, so leave it.
  3. Ride Stardust Racers and Constellation Carousel before 10am. Celestial Park is the cheapest land on average, but it is also the only one that peaks at night.
  4. Isle of Berk in the afternoon, Meet Toothless and Friends late. Hiccup Wing Glider and Dragon Racer's Rally want the morning; Meet Toothless and Fyre Drill want 9pm.
  5. Save Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry and Mine-Cart Madness for 9pm. They are the park's two longest lines and both hit their floor in the same hour.

Walt Disney World has its own version of this ranking across nineteen lands in which Disney World land has the longest lines, and we put the two resorts' flagship lands head to head in Pandora vs. Super Nintendo World.
