Fantasyland Guide: Ride Order That Actually Works

Peter Pan's Flight averages a 33.6-minute wait in our wait-time data — longer than Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (27.4 minutes) or Jungle Cruise (24.4 minutes) anywhere else in Magic Kingdom. Only one Fantasyland ride runs longer: Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, at 41.1 minutes. Between them, these two rides set the pace for the whole land.

Fantasyland packs fifteen tracked attractions into one corner of Magic Kingdom, and they don't behave alike. Some sit near-empty until dinner. Others spike hard at lunch and never fully recover. Here's the full ranking, the pattern behind it, and an hour-by-hour order built to respect both.

Every Fantasyland attraction, ranked by average wait

Attraction Avg wait (min) Peak hourly avg Best hour Worst hour
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train 41.1 66 10pm (31) 5pm (49.6)
Peter Pan's Flight 33.6 53 10pm (20.7) 1pm (43.8)
Princess Fairytale Hall 25.2 46 9am (15.2) 7pm (32.4)
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh 23.8 42 10pm (11.7) 4pm (32.2)
Meet Princess Tiana and a Visiting Princess 23.2 41 9am (12.8) 5pm (29)
Meet Ariel at Her Grotto 21.8 35 9am (14) 7pm (30.1)
WDW Railroad – Fantasyland 16 20 10am (15.1) 4pm (16.7)
Enchanted Tales with Belle 14.3 25 9am (10.3) 7pm (18.3)
Mickey's PhilharMagic 12.6 21 8am (11.1) 3pm (14.1)
it's a small world 9.6 25 8am (5.2) 12pm (15.7)
The Barnstormer 9 29 10pm (5.2) 7pm (17.1)
Under the Sea – Little Mermaid 9 34 10pm (5) 7pm (15.5)
Dumbo the Flying Elephant 7.6 29 8am (5.2) 8pm (17.7)
Mad Tea Party 6.7 15 8am (5.3) 12pm (8.6)
Prince Charming Regal Carrousel 6.4 14 8am (4.9) 9pm (8.3)

Add those fifteen averages together and divide by fifteen and Fantasyland comes out to 17.3 minutes per ride — but that single number hides an enormous range. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train runs more than six times longer than Prince Charming Regal Carrousel on an average trip through the land.

How these rides rank across all of Magic Kingdom

Zoom out to the full park and Fantasyland's two headliners hold their own against Tomorrowland and Frontierland's biggest draws. TRON Lightcycle / Run averages 54.4 minutes, the longest wait anywhere in Magic Kingdom. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train's 41.1-minute average is good for second place park-wide, ahead of Space Mountain (31.4 minutes), Tiana's Bayou Adventure (31.2 minutes), and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (27.4 minutes). Peter Pan's Flight, at 33.6 minutes, actually outranks both of them — a "family" ride with a longer average wait than two coasters most guests assume are the bigger draws. Only TRON and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train run longer.

The two rides that define your morning

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Peter Pan's Flight aren't just Fantasyland's longest waits — they swing the hardest during the day, in opposite directions from what most visitors expect.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train climbs from 31 minutes at its best hour (10pm) to 49.6 minutes at its worst (5pm), a 60% jump. Peter Pan's Flight is worse proportionally: it more than doubles, from 20.7 minutes at 10pm to 43.8 minutes at 1pm — a 112% swing. If you ride Peter Pan's Flight because it "looks like a kiddie ride, it can't be that bad," you're walking straight into a wait that's longer, hour for hour, than the mountain coaster next door.

Both rides' single best hour in our data is 10pm. If you're not staying to close, the practical move is the same one people already use for headliners across the park: get in line before the park fills in, rather than mid-morning once the crowd has arrived.

The princess meet-and-greets: three lines, one shared pattern

Princess Fairytale Hall, Meet Princess Tiana and a Visiting Princess, and Meet Ariel at Her Grotto all follow the same shape in our data: cheapest at 9am, worst in the early evening.

  • Princess Fairytale Hall: 15.2 minutes at 9am, 32.4 at 7pm — a 113% swing.
  • Meet Princess Tiana and a Visiting Princess: 12.8 minutes at 9am, 29 at 5pm — a 127% swing.
  • Meet Ariel at Her Grotto: 14 minutes at 9am, 30.1 at 7pm — a 115% swing.

All three roughly double between their best and worst hour, and all three bottom out at the same time: 9am. If character meets are on your list, that single hour covers three lines at once.

The calm side of Fantasyland

Five attractions here never average more than 10 minutes: it's a small world, The Barnstormer, Under the Sea, Dumbo, Mad Tea Party, and Prince Charming Regal Carrousel. But "low average" doesn't mean "no swing." Dumbo goes from 5.2 minutes at 8am to 17.7 at 8pm — a 240% increase — and The Barnstormer swings 229% between its 10pm low and 7pm high. These rides are easy to treat as filler you can ride "whenever," and mostly you can, except during their specific worst hour.

it's a small world is the one exception worth flagging separately: its worst hour is midday (12pm, 15.7 minutes), not evening, which puts it out of step with the rest of this group.

The best day for a Fantasyland-heavy visit

Magic Kingdom's park-wide wait-time data shows real separation by day of the week: Tuesday runs the shortest average wait in the park (15.3 minutes), while Wednesday and Thursday run the longest (22.4 and 22 minutes). Friday sits close to Tuesday's low end at 15.3 minutes as well. If your itinerary is flexible enough to choose which day you spend chasing Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Peter Pan's Flight, a Tuesday or Friday visit gives you a real structural advantage before you even factor in what hour you show up.

Who this order works best for

This route assumes you're prioritizing Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Peter Pan's Flight and are willing to move fast at rope drop to get both done early. If you're traveling with toddlers who gravitate toward the calmer, low-average rides — Dumbo, the Carrousel, Mad Tea Party, it's a small world — you can relax the urgency around the headliners and instead build your day around the 8am and 9am windows this guide already calls out, since that's when nearly everything in Fantasyland is at its cheapest simultaneously. If your group has no interest in character meet-and-greets, skip the 9am recommendation for Princess Fairytale Hall and Meet Ariel entirely and use that hour for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train or Peter Pan's Flight instead, since both are still relatively manageable that early even though 10pm is technically better.

An hour-by-hour route through Fantasyland

  1. At rope drop: Head straight for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, then Peter Pan's Flight. Both climb toward brutal midday and early-afternoon peaks (49.6 minutes at 5pm and 43.8 minutes at 1pm), so getting in line before the park fills in matters more here than almost anywhere else in the land.
  2. Right after, or if you skip the headliners first: Prince Charming Regal Carrousel, Mad Tea Party, Dumbo, and it's a small world all post their single best hour at 8am (4.9–5.3 minutes each). Clear all four while they're this cheap.
  3. 9am: This is the best hour for the princess meets and Enchanted Tales with Belle (10.3 minutes) at once. Do the character lines now, not later.
  4. Midday (12pm–1pm): Avoid it's a small world (worst hour, 15.7 minutes) and Peter Pan's Flight (worst hour, 43.8 minutes). Mickey's PhilharMagic doesn't peak until 3pm, so it's a reasonable midday fill-in.
  5. Afternoon (3pm–5pm): Seven Dwarfs Mine Train peaks at 5pm (49.6 minutes) — if you haven't ridden yet, expect the day's longest wait for it. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and WDW Railroad – Fantasyland both peak around 4pm.
  6. Evening (7pm): This is the single worst hour for five attractions at once — Princess Fairytale Hall, Meet Ariel, Enchanted Tales with Belle, The Barnstormer, and Under the Sea all peak here. Skip this block for the meet-and-greets and low-key rides; it's a good window for a meal instead.
  7. Late at night (10pm), if you're staying to close: This is literally the best hour for five attractions — Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Peter Pan's Flight, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, The Barnstormer, and Under the Sea. Save second laps for here.

Frequently asked questions

Should I ride Seven Dwarfs Mine Train or Peter Pan's Flight first at rope drop? Both matter, but Peter Pan's Flight swings harder proportionally (112% versus 60%), so it punishes a late start more. If you can only fast-track one line first thing, make it Peter Pan's Flight.

Is there a single best hour to be in Fantasyland? 8am covers the most ground — it's the best hour for four of the land's calmer rides at once (Prince Charming Regal Carrousel, Mad Tea Party, Dumbo, it's a small world).

Do the character meets really all peak at the same time? Yes. Princess Fairytale Hall, Meet Princess Tiana, and Meet Ariel all bottom out at 9am and all climb into their worst hour between 5pm and 7pm.

Which Fantasyland ride should toddlers do first? Any of the five under-10-minute-average rides work well early, but Dumbo and the Carrousel post their single best hour at 8am (5.2 and 4.9 minutes), the same window recommended for rope drop.

Is Fantasyland worse on a Wednesday than a Tuesday? For Magic Kingdom overall, yes — the park's park-wide data shows Wednesday averaging 22.4 minutes against Tuesday's 15.3, a difference that shows up across every land, Fantasyland included.

The bottom line

Fantasyland's two biggest averages, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Peter Pan's Flight, are also its two biggest swings — and both reward a 10pm ride more than an 8am one, if you can stay that late. Everything else in the land clusters around two golden hours: 8am for the flat rides, 9am for the princess meets. Build around those two windows first, protect the 1pm–7pm stretch for whichever headliner you haven't ridden yet, and Fantasyland stops feeling like one long line.
