The Parks Where Lines Got Better in 2026

At Magic Kingdom, two returning headliners — Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin — came back this year with enough new capacity that both now sit mid-pack rather than at the top of the park's wait-time rankings.

That is one confirmed reason 2026 has been an easier year at some Orlando parks than the reputation suggests. It is not the only one. Several parks also added ride capacity, split demand across new experiences, or benefited from a capped-attendance rival this year, which shows up in how current wait patterns are structured. We do not have month-over-month data to prove a trend, but we can show you exactly what each of these changes looks like in our current numbers — and why it matters for your visit.

1. Magic Kingdom: two headliners came back with more capacity

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad reopened May 4 with new track and new ride vehicles, and Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin reopened April 8 with an overhauled ride experience. Both now sit mid-pack among Magic Kingdom's 33 attractions rather than at the top: Big Thunder Mountain averages 27.4 minutes and Buzz Lightyear averages 28.4 minutes, well behind TRON Lightcycle / Run's 54.4-minute average.

2. EPCOT: a third Soarin' era

Soarin', relaunched in May as Soarin' Across America for the United States' 250th anniversary, currently logs a 24.9-minute average — a fraction of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind's 69.5-minute average and Test Track's 64.5-minute average in the same park.

3. Hollywood Studios: demand split across two Star Wars experiences

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run added a new Mandalorian and Grogu mission on May 22, giving the ride two distinct experiences instead of one. Millennium Falcon still averages 27.6 minutes, comfortably below Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance's 45.1-minute average in the same land.

4. Animal Kingdom: a virtual queue instead of a standby line

Bluey's Wild World, which debuted May 26 at Conservation Station, runs on a virtual queue rather than a standby line. Its average of 17.3 minutes sits well under Avatar Flight of Passage's 49.8-minute average — evidence the virtual-queue format is keeping the experience from becoming a second standby bottleneck in the park.

5. Universal Orlando: caps and soft demand, before the passholder rush

Universal Orlando's summer 2026 crowds stayed manageable thanks to attendance caps and softer demand — before a six-week Passholder Appreciation window (August 15 through September 30) that is expected to push crowds back up. Per industry reporting, Universal's attendance caps and softer-than-expected demand kept both Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure manageable through the summer. In our current data, Universal Studios Florida's best hour averages 11.5 minutes, and its park-wide daily average never exceeds 24.8 minutes even at the worst hour. Islands of Adventure's quietest day, Thursday, averages just 16.6 minutes park-wide.

That window closes soon. Passholder Appreciation Days start August 15 and include 30% off select Express Passes — a promotion that typically pulls in more visitors than it turns away.

The takeaway

None of this means 2026 is a slow year everywhere — Guardians of the Galaxy, TRON, and Hagrid's Motorbike Adventure are still running long averages regardless of what else changed. But at the five spots above, added capacity, a second mission, a virtual queue, or simply softer overall demand kept the numbers from spiraling the way a single new headliner usually does.
