The 5 Best Big Parks for Short Lines in 2026

Magic Kingdom's park-wide average sits at 19.1 minutes across every hour we track — a park with 33 attractions and some of the industry's busiest headliners still running leaner than its reputation suggests. But it isn't the shortest number out there: among major parks with at least 10 tracked attractions, a few others edge it out.

We took every park's park-wide hourly wait table and averaged it across all tracked hours to get one number per park: a simple, apples-to-apples measure of "how long is the typical wait here, at any given hour." We limited the comparison to parks with at least 10 tracked attractions, so a handful of parks with thinner rosters did not skew the list. Here are the five that came out on top.

Rank Park Avg wait across tracked hours
1 SeaWorld Orlando 14.8 min
2 Islands of Adventure 18.7 min
3 Magic Kingdom 19.1 min
4 Universal Studios Florida 19.6 min
5 Animal Kingdom 23.0 min

1. SeaWorld Orlando

SeaWorld Orlando has the single widest hour-to-hour swing of any big park we track: its worst hour runs 391% above its best hour (4.6 minutes at 8am versus 22.6 minutes at 4pm). It still lands at the top overall because that low morning number pulls the full-day average way down.

2. Islands of Adventure

Islands of Adventure's best hour is 9am, averaging 14 minutes across its lineup; its worst is noon, at 24.1 minutes. That's a tight range for a park anchored by Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, which alone averages 60.3 minutes and pulls the far end of the park's ride list well above everything else.

3. Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom's best hour is 8am, averaging 11.3 minutes across the park; its worst is 7pm, at 22.7 minutes. The park carries 33 tracked attractions, more than any other park on this list, and a long tail of low-wait dark rides and shows — it's a small world at 9.6 minutes, Pirates of the Caribbean at 12.2 — keeps the full-day average down even with TRON Lightcycle / Run running a 54.4-minute average of its own.

4. Universal Studios Florida

Universal Studios Florida's best hour comes late, at 10pm (11.5 minutes); its worst is 3pm, at 24.8 minutes. Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts is the park's main outlier, averaging 31.1 minutes on its own.

5. Animal Kingdom

Animal Kingdom's best hour is 7pm, at 13.5 minutes; its worst is noon, at 30.9 minutes. The park holds both ends of the extreme-wait spectrum: Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail averages just 5.0 minutes, the shortest wait we track anywhere, while Avatar Flight of Passage averages 49.8 minutes on the other end.

What "short lines" does not mean here

This ranking is built entirely from wait-time patterns, not attendance figures or park capacity, and it should not be read as a claim about any other time of year. A park can have short average waits and still have a headliner with a long line at its peak hour; check the specific attraction before you build a plan around a park's overall reputation.
