16 Disney Rides Closed in April 2026: The Full List

Sixteen attractions and areas across Disney's parks were closed or closing during April 2026, according to a closure count first compiled by MickeyVisit from Disney's refurbishment schedule (source). That's the densest refurbishment window of the year so far, spanning both coasts — Disneyland and Disney California Adventure in Anaheim, and Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World.
Here is the full list.

Two of the exits on that list are also two of Disney's bigger 2026 stories: Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad were both mid-closure at Magic Kingdom in April, and both came back with more than a coat of paint.
What's actually changing, not just closing
Some of April's closures were routine maintenance. A few were full ride overhauls:
- Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin reopened April 8, 2026, with an overhauled ride experience at Magic Kingdom.
- Big Thunder Mountain Railroad had been closed since January 6, 2025, and didn't come back until May 4, 2026 — well past April — with new track, new ride vehicles, and a new Rainbow Caverns scene.
- Rock 'n' Roller Coaster's Aerosmith-themed version closed March 2 and never returned. In its place, Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets opened May 26, 2026, swapping Aerosmith for Jim Henson puppets and celebrity musician guest stars. It carries Lightning Lane Tier 1.
What this means for your April visit
If you're touring Magic Kingdom in April, plan around Buzz Lightyear being down for the first week and Big Thunder Mountain remaining closed the entire month. At EPCOT, skip the Palais du Cinema in the France pavilion — both Impressions de France and the Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along are unavailable there. At Animal Kingdom, Rafiki's Planet Watch and its train are closed, which also limits access to Conservation Station.
Disney typically follows April with another wave: 14 more ride closures were announced for May 2026 as the refurbishment calendar rolled forward.
