Rise of the Resistance Wait Times: The Real Picture

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance averages 45.1 minutes in our wait-time data. That's a serious line — but it isn't Hollywood Studios' longest. Slinky Dog Dash, a family coaster across the park in Toy Story Land, averages 56 minutes and beats it outright.

The full Hollywood Studios ranking

Attraction Zone Avg wait (min) Peak hourly avg (min)
Slinky Dog Dash Toy Story Land 56 87
Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets Sunset Boulevard 47.5 72
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge 45.1 90
Toy Story Mania! Pixar Plaza 38.5 66
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror Sunset Boulevard 37.1 83
Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway Hollywood Boulevard 36 53
Meet Disney Stars at Red Carpet Dreams Commissary Lane 31.6 52
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge 27.6 55
Alien Swirling Saucers Toy Story Land 20 40
Meet Olaf at Celebrity Spotlight Echo Lake 17.9 28
Meet Edna Mode at the Edna Mode Experience Pixar Plaza 14.5 15
Star Tours – The Adventures Continue Echo Lake 6.6 18

Rise of the Resistance sits third, behind Slinky Dog Dash and Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets. It does, however, post the single highest peak hourly average in the park: 90 minutes. So the reputation isn't baseless — at its absolute worst, nothing in Hollywood Studios runs longer. It just doesn't stay there all day the way Slinky Dog Dash's average line does.

Inside Galaxy's Edge itself, the gap between the land's two rides is wide. Rise of the Resistance's 45.1-minute average is more than 1.6 times Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run's 27.6 minutes. If your group is short on time and can only ride one Galaxy's Edge attraction, that's the wait-time trade-off you're making.

Best and worst hour, ride by ride

Attraction Best hour Best avg (min) Worst hour Worst avg (min)
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance 10pm 21.3 12pm 58.5
Slinky Dog Dash 10pm 39.4 12pm 64.2
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run 10pm 11.5 11am 44.5

All three rides bottom out at 10pm and climb hardest around midday. Smugglers Run peaks earliest, at 11am, so a smart sequence is to ride it before the late-morning rush and save Rise of the Resistance for either first thing at rope drop or the last hour before close, when it's less than half its noon peak.

Where noon fits into the bigger picture

Hollywood Studios' park-wide wait climbs steadily from open and tops out right at lunchtime:

Hour Avg wait across all attractions (min)
8am 20.5
9am 26.1
10am 35.2
11am 38.4
12pm 40
1pm 37.1
2pm 36.5
3pm 33.5
4pm 31.7
5pm 33.6
6pm 35.4
7pm 39.1
8pm 36.5
9pm 25.6
10pm 22.5

Best hour: 8am (20.5 minutes). Worst hour: 12pm (40 minutes) — 95% above the best hour. Rise of the Resistance's own worst hour, also 12pm, lines up exactly with the park's overall peak. There's no secret window to dodge the crowd at noon; everything is busy at once.

Best and worst day to visit

Day Avg wait (min)
Sunday 31.1
Monday 31.2
Tuesday 36.9
Wednesday 28.5
Thursday 31.1
Friday 38.6
Saturday 32.9

Wednesday is the calmest day in our data (28.5 minutes); Friday runs the longest (38.6 minutes). If you have flexibility, that's a full ten-minute swing in the park-wide average — enough to change how many attractions you fit in.

The takeaway

Rise of the Resistance earns its reputation at its single worst moment — the highest peak hourly average anywhere in Hollywood Studios — but across a full day, it's outpaced by Slinky Dog Dash and Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets. If you're choosing which line to prioritize, the data says Slinky Dog Dash is the one actually eating your day.
